With the sale of over 4 million copies of her second album Fearless, Taylor Swift was the best selling artist of 2008. Right now, she has the number #1 album on both the country and the Billboard Top 200 charts. She's a crossover sensation, even helping to save the sheet music business and, now, with appearances on Saturday Night Live, the youngest musical guest to be on the show ever, and a cameo in the Hannah Montana movie, she's poised to take over both the big and little screens.

Now word comes from Black Rock that the 19-year old superstar is scheduled to appear on CBS' hugely successful CSI in the near future. Swift will play a teen whose family runs a seedy Vegas tourist trap motel and who meets up with a tragedy. The network hasn't announced exactly when the singer will appear but with mainman William Peterson set to leave the show this week, CBS are making sure that, even with Laurence Fishburne joining the original series full time, they've got all their bases covered.

With a fanbase that cuts across the genres and the generations, the country ingénue will certainly help turn this crime story into a love story

And check out why Barack Obama should choose CSI's Gil  Grissom as Surgeon General and not CNN's Sanjay Gupta
