I get the impression that Leo likes the bully pulpit

OK, you've probably heard all about it now and know it's a bit of a goof.

Leo, Halle, Eva Longoria, Jennifer Anniston, Dustin Hoffman, will.i.am from the Black Eyed Peas, Anthony Kiedis from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jamie Fox, Natilie Portman and a bunch of A-listers have gotten together for a very earnest Google sponsored video on how time is running out to register to vote and how you can get five friends to vote and make a difference in the election.

I know it's an exercise in democracy and that's great and all, but does it have to be so long and heavy handed? Typical of actors, they just love to hear themselves talk and talk. In the process, they almost kill the gag and the message in this 5 minute spot.

It's a commercial people, not a trailer. Tighten up a bit, a lot in fact. By the time they got to the bit about actually why it was good to vote I had started to buy into the idea that maybe voting was kinda dumb. And I'm a fairly patient guy. I hope Leo's new flick Body of Lies, coming out October 10, doesn't feel this long.

Also, I seriously doubt Superbad's Jonah Hill, who is 24, has thought much about voting before ... but then again maybe I'm just buying into his persona, cause his line about abortion is hilarious

Having said that, it is really really funny when Sarah Silverman stresses the need to vote and to get your friends to vote and spread the news "rampant like herpes but for a positive."

Check out Five Friends here.

And don't vote .... well, actually, maybe you should because it if you really doubt that voting matters, check out the latest trailer for Oliver Stone's W, his flick about George W. Bush out in a few weeks. It's true what they say, Josh Brolin's Bush is uncanny and scary too.

Check out the new W trailer here.

And see if you can sleep tonight after seeing W on the toilet.
