The title of this article isn't really how I feel, but CNN has reported that as an actual quote from a Twitter user when describing how they felt when they found out Twitter's website was down yesterday as a result of a denial-of-service attack that was timed to coincide with the one-year anniversary of the Russia-Georgia conflict.
It's a bit concerning to me that someone would actually "feel so empty inside" when they are not able to share with their Twitter followers that, "I just ate a PB&J and it was gr8t!" or "Sitting in traffic late for work" or not being able to read similar updates.
Now that Twitter's website is backup and working much better I decided to visit their homepage and randomly click on a couple of the most popular topics for today and see what people are Twittering about or tweeting.. Here's a small sample of what I found:
Well it all makes sense now. It's a rough day when Twitter's website is down and you are not able to say goodnight to Twitter, announce that you are reading a book or report the average download speed of your Internet connection. Not being able to instantly share such details would indeed be intense enough to make me feel "so empty inside".
I hope someone else recognizes how silly this is besides me. I like Twitter, I use Twitter, but like most websites I dont feel empty inside or depressed when Twitter is down or any other website, unless its my own because then I'm losing money :-)
