After losing defenseman Sergei Gonchar for 4-6 weeks, the Penguins learned that center Evgeni Malkin will miss 2-3 weeks with a strained right shoulder.

Malkin injured his shoulder a week and a half ago and planned to play through the injury, but later decided to rest the shoulder and be back in mid to late November.

To fill the roster spot, the Penguins have recalled forward Chris Conner from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

Tyler Kennedy is also suffering from an undisclosed injury.  He didn't play against the Canadiens on Wednesday and will not dress on Friday in Columbus against the Blue Jackets.
