Sustainability and urban design are hot button issues for city planners as well as for city dwellers.

This week the congress for New Urbanism is gathered in Denver, June 10-14, to discuss ideas and solutions to topics ranging from Retrofitting Suburbia to Building Beautifully: Placing Craftsmanship Alongside Architecture and Urbanism in the New Urbanism.

The members of the congress of New Urbanism's goal is to create successful communities by combining planning, architecture, development, transportation, green design and government.

The qualities of New Urbanism:

Walk ability.

Quality of life.

Energy-efficiency.

Lower carbon emissions.

A rewarding sense of place and community.

Urban isn't a trend

Learn what the new urbanism is all about. You don't have to be an architect, civil engineer, city planner or city council member to attend the conference. Members of the public are encouraged to attend!
