After working at the plaza on Saturday, going to the Awards dinner, then cycling 100 miles on Sunday, Jonathan Smith, captain of Team Pedalout, took time Sunday night to send these photos and a brief report. Super thanks are due, and sincerely sent!
Team Pedalout won the Team Messenger Award (second year in a row) for having the most qualified (raised $100 or more) members. Their 120 cyclists raised $36,000.
Jonathan sent the picture to the right, which he explains is,
"..a picture from Saturday night's Awards Dinner. This event is put on for top fundraisers and is a very inspirational event. There are lots of inspirational videos as well as speakers.
"The guest speaker Saturday night was Carly Fiorina, the former CEO of HP and a cancer survivor. The picture is of myself on the right and Jim Slevin on the left, with our team joining us on the stage behind us, accepting our Team Messenger award for having the team with the most members who had collected donations of a minimum of $100. We had one team member Frank Slevin, who raised over $15,000."
Regarding the picture below:
"There are too many people to name, but it is all the Team Pedalout members that made it in time to take the team picture. Obviously they aren't all there as we had nearly 120 people on the team."
Jonathan also sent this note:
"It was a really tough day, Metcalf road crushed most of the riders as was evident from the majority of them walking their way to the top. (I have great video of all of them walking) I personally was trying to stop and get a break as I was climbing Metcalf and actually didn't get unclipped quick enough, which is hard to do on a 16% grade. Anyway, I fell right over onto the cement....nice eh..."
