It's fitness news with a twist: The big to-do this weekend is not about all the ways smoking is bad for your health, but about Laura Northrup's story on consumerist.com titled, "Smoking near Apple computers creates biohazard, voids warranty."
So now we know that smoking is bad for your computer's fitness too. And nope, this doesn't appear to be some urban scare tactic. The venerated Techmeme picked up the story in Saturday's postings.
Check out Laura's piece for the full story, but the basic line is that some people are finding when their Mac stops working that Apple says that "due to the computer having been used in a house where there was smoking, that has voided the warranty and they refuse to work on the machine."
If you've been thinking about becoming a non-smoker, the holidays are as good a time as any. The folks over at hyp-yoga just introduced an audio course that contains yoga poses and simple hypnosis to help you get over the mental dependency. Here in San Jose, O'Connor Hospital offers a free, weekly Ash Kickers class.
