Here's the second installment on what to do and how to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month while learning more about different Latino cultures!

Tune in to watch Chicago's Puerto Rican Story.

-WTTW 11 will air a local documentary that chronicles the Puerto Rican experience in Chicago. The film looks at the early migration, settlement, struggles and contributions of the Puerto Rican community. The program features photos, video footage and interviews from early migrants, community leaders and historians. The documentary airs on WTTW Channel 11, September 9th, at 7:30 p.m.

Watch the Mexican Independence Day Parade...this time in the heart of Chicago's predominately Mexican-American neighborhood!

-Join me in my hood (Little Village), September 14th at noon, at 26th street from Albany to Kostner!  Come and see our fabulous people and eat our fabulous food! Here are a few restaurants that are a must: Lalo's (26th & Kedvale), El Faro (31st & Pulaski), Mi Tierra (26th & Kedzie), and Nuevo Leon (18th & Ashland). FYI: El Faro is vegetarian friendly! Check in with Lynn Stevens, our Logan Square Examiner , on Mexican Independence Day (September 15th) with her top Mexican restaurant picks in Logan Square!

Gooooaaaaaalllll!

-It's Hispanic Heritage Day at Toyota Park! On September 21st the Chicago Fire battle FC Dallas. Kick off begins at 2 p.m.

Take the kids to the zoo!

-Brookfield Zoo will host the Fiesta Para Todos on September 20th and 21st, 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. The celebration will feature traditional folkloric dance, food, music, and animals!
