Get your blanket and snacks ready, and head on over to the Puerto Rican Film Series this Saturday, August 9th, to watch the screening of Ocho Puertas.

Directed by Paloma and Gabriel Suau, the film tells the tale of a famous nightclub in San Juan opened by a gay couple called Ocho Puertas. The nightclub was significant to the local people because of its cultural performances.
Ocho Puertas soon gained international recognition as a hang out place for figures such as Marlene Dietrich, Burt Bacharach, Chita Rivera, Sylvia Syms and Liza Minelli. The film features the club's gorgeous interior and the famous singers who started their careers on Ocho Puertas' stage.
The film begins at 8 p.m. sharp! Admission is free and the screening takes place at the Humboldt Park Boat House at 1359 N. Sacramento. There's also free popcorn and parking, as well as children's activities and raffles! Who can say no to that!
