A big chill returns to north Texas for the rest of the week, with overnight lows generally in the 20s and highs in the 40s. This is about 10 degrees below the early-to-mid February averages.
The next chance of wintry precipitation comes Thursday as an upper trough (dashed line on map), which has been consistently predicted by the computer output, moves in from the west. This will provide lifting and likely wring out some sleet or snow.
Right now, the main uncertainty is how much moisture will be present to fuel the winter weather event.
Looking further ahead into next week, colder than normal weather is expected to continue as another surge of chilly air comes southward out of Canada.
