
Rainfall amounts possible- Tuesday night
Due to very saturated grounds across Central and Northern Mississippi, significant flash flooding is possible through late tonight.
The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch across Northern and Central Mississippi through late tonight, including the cities of Jackson, Vicksburg, Greenville, Tupelo, Starkville, Columbus, Canton, Madison, Ridgeland, Brandon, Macon, Philadelphia, Pearl, Morton, Forest, Louisville and Richland.
Heavy rain was moving across Northern Mississippi, with heavy rain approaching Central Mississippi, Tuesday afternoon.
Widespread rainfall amounts over 2 inches are likely with locally higher amounts.
Grounds are extremely saturated across Northern and Central Mississippi, where many areas have surpassed 15 and 20 inches of rainfall since September!!
Two to four inches of rainfall has fallen, just in the last day or so across the area.
(On Monday, 2 to 3 inches of rainfall fell across portions of Northern and Central Mississippi, with over 3.5 inches of rainfall in Washington County in Northwestern Mississippi, resulting in several road closures, due to high water)

THIS WILL OCCUR ACROSS AREAS THAT HAVE ALREADY SEEN 2 TO 4 INCHES OVER THE PAST SEVERAL DAYS, INCLUDING A COUPLE INCHES THIS MORNING AND LOCATIONS THAT HAVE RECENTLY HAD FLOODING.
THIS EVENT HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BE A SIGNIFICANT FLOODING EVENT WITH SIGNIFICANT FLASH FLOODING AND FLOODING LIKELY!!!!
IF RAINFALL AMOUNTS EXCEED 2 TO 4 INCHES IN JUST A FEW HOURS, LOCATIONS THAT NORMALLY DO NOT FLOOD WILL LIKELY HAVE SUBSTANTIAL FLOODING.
WATER DEPTH DURING THIS EVENT MAY BE DEEPER THAN OTHER TIMES DUE TO THE CURRENTLY SATURATED AND FLOODING CONDITIONS.
