Mass Audubon and the National Marine Life Sanctuary offer unique Halloween events with a special focus on the wildlife of Cape Cod, some scary, some just plain fun. Find out more about the Cape's wild creatures this Halloween.


Friday night in Cummaquid's  Enchanted Forest
The forest is enchanted at Mass Audubon’s Long Pasture Wildlife Sanctuary on Friday night when darkness brings out some very special creatures. Lantern lit tours leave every 15 minutes from 6:30 to 9 pm, taking visitors to meet the wild ones who inhabit the Cape Cod night. Halloween treats for those in costume.

The Forest is haunted in Wellfleet
Further out on Cape Cod, head for Mass Audubon’s Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary for another chance to experience the woods at night and learn about the animals who inhabit the dark, some real, some you may just imagine. Guided walks from the Nature Center leave every 15 minutes. Costumes are encouraged so the creatures of the night won’t recogonize you.

Saturday with the seals and sea turtles
Spooky Splash, the National Marine Life Center’s Halloween celebration, is just for fun. During the special Halloween Open House from 10 am –2 pm, kids can make a seal or seal turtle trick-or-treat bag. There’ll be other arts and crafts, games and refreshments. Plus you can tour the new Marine Animal Hospital being constructed for Cape Cod’s marine wildlife.

Halloween Mythbusters –Are Crows harbingers of doom?
