Among other hot topics in town, food seems to be one that many like to talk about in Longmont and dessert seems to be a particular favorite!
The Longmont Examiner has had multiple requests and Twitter messages wanting to know "who won the Artful Dessert Competition?" that was held earlier this month.
The Artful Dessert Competition is essentially "the icing on the cake" at the end of this years summer event series of ArtLink Longmont. Among the entrants in this years competition, were a couple of familiar faces!
Mark Alexander is the chef and creator of the newly formed and locally owned Stone Table Catering. Mark is developing quite a fan following, entertaining and inspiring locals with his creative menu plans. Mark was a first time entrant in the professional category with his Rocky Mountain Brown Betty.
According to Mark, "There were 5 or 6 other entries and they looked amazing. One was a two foot tall tower of truffles. I thought I was toast. My humble Brown Betty sat there looking up at the bully of chocolate and I swear I heard Betty sigh. I winked at her and said, "Do your best." Well, she did...she won him a purty 2nd Place ribbon.
Another entry in the Artful Dessert Competition came from another familiar face...and voice. The 'mama' in favorite local band Mojomama, lead singer Jessica Rogalski, won 1st place in the Amateur Adult category for her Lemon Cheesecake!

Congratulations to Mark and Jessica and all the Artful Dessert bakers and chefs...and to all those who have also talked to the Longmont Examiner about how it's perfectly acceptable to have chocolate cake for breakfast!
