Change is no doubt the common theme of the current era, but what are Americans doing to inspire personal transformations in their own lives?

Beginning this month, hundreds of moms across the country (including Longmont) will commit to better health by participating in the nationwide Stroller Strides National Get Fit Challenge - a three-month supported program that provides participants with tangible results and the tools to make lasting lifestyle changes.

Moms in Longmont looking for ways to trim their budget, but still get the support they need to get back into their pre-baby jeans can participate in this challenge with the Longmont group of Stroller Strides. Participants can join with a friend or be paired up with another participant and become a supportive team. Measurements and assessing fitness pre-challenge and post-challenge are done to see your progress!

Teams of 2 people accumulate points according to their daily activities.  For example, points are awarded for attending Stroller Strides classes, exercising on your own, taking time for yourself, spending time meditating/praying, keeping a personal journal, eating fruits and vegetables, and many others.  The team to collect the most points wins PRIZES. You receive email support and there is also a Facebook group!

Longmont Moms take to the mall!I recently e-chatted with Elaine Waterman, owner of the Longmont group of Stroller Strides to talk about the program as I remember what fun it was to get together with Moms when my kids were younger, not only for the exercise, but for the meeting and making friends.

LE: What is the cost to my readers who sign up now?

Elaine: Entry fees- $10 covers the cost of the journal.

LE: You previously mentioned having 20 Moms signed up for the program...what are the ages ranges of the children? I liked the photos you have on your website with the Moms pushing the kids in strollers in the Mall and noticed some Moms don't have kids in strollers.

Elaine: Ages ranges of the children- 12 weeks-35yrs old!  One mom is doing it with her mom- so there is a team of 3 generations- a 2 year old girl, the 35 year old mom and her mother. As for the pics...Stroller Strides is a challenging class that we do have some moms that still come even though their kids are older.  They still reap the benefits of friendship and a great workout!  We even have grandparents attend!

LE: Do all the classes for this challenge meet at the Twin Peak Mall? (click HERE for map and directions to the mall)

Elaine: All Stroller Strides classes are currently at the mall.  M,W,F, and SA at 9:15(am).  We meet at the play area for our 1 hour class.  We will be adding 2 outdoor classes at the end of March on Tuesday and Thursday.

LE: What would be the first step for my readers to sign up? Do they need to call you, show up at the location, or use the online form?

Elaine: Anyone who wants to sign up should (call ph# 303-775-2289 or) email me at prebabyjeans@strollerstrides.net.  Or they can just come to a Stroller Strides class since the first class is always free. We can set them up for the challenge and with a team mate (or they can join in teams) and go from there!
