Much has been said locally about the outcome of the Longmont election, but the most ironic quote of all comes from Yellow Scene Magazine.

The Longmont Examiner is a member of a group of writers at the Longmont Advocate blog (in addition to the Wrongmont blog) who have been covering the inside of the local political scene for quite some time. Yellow Scene Magazine stated in their post election coverage that the Longmont Advocate blog "has probably been second only to the Longmont Times Call (who endorsed all four of the winning candidates) as the rain on council's parade."

Interestingly enough, it was the Yellow Scene who in their pre-election coverage stated adamantly how much they loved the "tenacity" of the now former councilmember Karen Benker, and that she "works toward outcomes."

But over 60% of Longmont voters saw it much differently, including the voters of the Clover Basin Fire District who by and large voted for her challenger, Katie Witt. Even though Karen Benker had mentioned ending their fire district tax as one of her biggest accomplishments. We weren't fooled. And neither were they.

We only see happy tears...and are happy that they extinguished the firestorm that had grown out of Karen Benker's record.
