The Longmont City Council took their post-election seats this Monday night after being sworn in. Councilmember Gabe Santos who was re-elected was chosen by a secret ballot of his fellow councilmembers to become Mayor Pro Tem. It was great to see so many families in attendance for tonights ceremony. There were also many in blue in attendance tonight, perhaps a tribute to outgoing council member Mary Blue's final opportunity to grace her council seat tonight before retirement? Outgoing Mayor Lange also received a standing ovation before departing.
Also on the agenda after the new council was seated was the appointments of the council members to the numerous board positions, which according to City Clerk Valeria Skitt is wiped clean. Mayor Bryan Baum made the suggestion that the council be given more time to discuss the various board appointments that each council member would then become liaisons to. His fellow councilmembers agreed.
The new council will get down to regular business Tuesday night, click here to see the agenda for the new council.
