Hard-rocking band Night Ranger packed the streets of downtown Savannah, Tenn., on Friday night, Sept. 11, as the headliners of country artist Darryl Worley's 8th Annual Tennessee River Run rock concert.
Hailing from the San Francisco Bay area, the five-man band didn't disappoint the crowd as they cranked out hits such as "Don't Tell Me You Love Me," "Sister Christian," "(You Can Still) Rock In America" and others. Rockers Soul Gravy and Littlefield opened the concert.
Country hit-maker Worley founded the annual River Run event as a way to give back to others, including those from his hometown area of Hardin County. The run is a community-building event that raises hundreds of thousands of dollars for The Darryl Worley Cancer Treatment Center as well as St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and other charities. (Worley lost both of his grandfathers to cancer.)
This year's event got under way Sept. 10 and will wrap up in November with a fishing tournament. The gatheringhas become one of the most-anticipated events of the year in West Tennessee and the surrounding areas, with more than 20,000 people attending yearly.
As for the 6-foot, 6-inch Worley and his music, the former Playgirl pin-up currently has a country hit on his hands with his latest single, "Sounds Like Life To Me," which was at No. 14 on the Mediabase charts at this writing.
