Following on the heels of his multi-week No. 1 single dubbed "She's Country," a number that single-handedly took Jason Aldean's third CD to gold status, the singer's got a new cut ready for fans.
"Big Green Tractor" is the title of the hit-songster's next single that's set to land on country radio programmers' desk nationwide come May 26. And having already previewed the easy-groovin' number, this scribe--an admitted tractor-holic (and proud grand-daughter and niece of Texas farmers)--concedes it's likely to plow its way to top of the country charts, as did its "She's Country" predecessor.
"There's nothin' more romantic than a tractor," Aldean said, laughing. "If you live in South Georgia, a Saturday night out on the tractor with your girl is probably not that far-fetched of what could be considered a good 'date night.' "
Moreover, he added, "The song seems to be connecting already, so maybe tractors have always been romantic and everybody just needed reminding."
Even the city folks in the Big Apple; namely, The New York Times, have tagged the "Tractor" track as "the best love song on Wide Open," which is the title of Aldean's new CD that dropped in April.
Country radio, too, jumped in on the "Tractor" talk, with Gregg Swedberg, program firector at KEEY in Minneapolis, remarking, "This might be the most-mass appeal song of Jason's already white-hot career, pretty much a right-down-the-middle smash. You start singing along immediately."
Album-wise, Aldean's third CD has seemingly rooted itself in the Top Five on Billboard's Country Albums chart, alongside releases by country superstars such as Rascal Flatts and Taylor Swift. The Georgia son is currently headlining his Wide Open arena tour and will also open a handful of dates for Keith Urban. Additionally, fans can catch him perform on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Fox & Friends and the CMT Music Awards in the coming weeks.
Writer's take on the news: Jason Aldean's "Big Green Tractor" is rows and rows "sexier" than Kenny Chesney's, per this scribe's view, even though both make for a darn good tractor pull of the country-music persuasion.
