Country star Martina McBride and Napa Valley's Blackbird Vineyards have teamed to create a Signature Series wine to coincide with McBride's 10th album release, Shine, which was released last month.
Each bottle, a cool $60 each, is adorned with Kansas native McBride's stamped autograph, and is being exclusively offered to members of her fan community who are of legal drinking age.
"I have always been a fan of Martina's work, and it's an honor to collaborate with her on the creation of her first signature wine," said Michael Polenske, proprietor of the California winery.
"We think it's quite fitting that she chose to work with Blackbird Vineyards to create this exclusive bottling due to our sharing of the Blackbird name--her Nashville recording studio is named Blackbird Studio, and it is one of the country's premier recording facilities."
The wine is a blend of 56 percent cabernet sauvignon, 38 percent merlot and
6 percent cabernet franc, according to its creators.
"I've been able to taste incredible wines while traveling the world on tour," McBride said. "I sampled Blackbird Vineyards' wines while on a trip to Napa Valley and loved them. I'm thrilled to collaborate with Blackbird on
this inaugural Signature Series."
The 2006 Martina McBride "Signature Series" Proprietary Red Wine is available through an allocated mailing list and McBride's fan community Web site, www.martinamcbride.com.
"Ride" is Martina McBride's latest hit on her newly released Shine album.
