This week marks exactly one year that the CMA’s New Artist of the Year, trio Lady Antebellum, has held its place on the top-10 country albums chart at iTunes, report the band’s PR forces.
Composed of guitarist Dave Haywood and vocalists Hillary Scott and Charles Kelley, Lady A set digital sales records when the act’s debut album opened at the No. 1 spot 12 months ago.
"We have always communicated with our fans online through our Web site and social networking sites, so I think it is a really natural place for them to go to buy the album," Kelley explained.
"We try not to get into the business side of the music very often, but I won't lie," continued the 6-foot, 6-inch singer, "(but) it is nice to open up iTunes and see our name still on that list."
Per the Grammy-nominated band’s reps, the Lady Antebellum lineup is busy this week prepping to join four-time Entertainer of the Year Chesney's Sun City Carnival Tour. Armed with a new set list and bigger production, Lady A will travel to Uncasville, Conn., to kick off the run of 40-plus dates in arenas and stadiums across the country.
"This is the tour to be on this summer," Scott said. "Not only will we be playing in front of hundreds of thousands of die-hard country music fans over the next few months, but Kenny is just the most gracious host and has already made us feel so welcome. ..."
Lady Antebellum also is up for three awards in the 2009 CMT Music Awards, where online voting is open to country fans now through May 11, 2009. To learn more, simply click here.
