Oakland Raiders: No news means no news
This is the down time of the offseason. It is one week away from the last OTA session, and another week until the next one. The rumored trade of Derrick Burgess has not yet happened. Things seem to be rather quiet from the Raiders headquarters. Just another week of waiting until the fun begins in September.
- Other than vague rumors emanating from Bristol, Connecticut, and even vaguer responses from Coach Cable, Derrick Burgess has not been moved. Expect him to be a Raider until his contract expires at the end of the year. Unless someone offers an "offer he can't refuse" Al Davis will not move his superstar defensive end.
- The story of practices so far is JaMarcus Russell's inaccuracy. Next week will be another opportunity to view his progression. Here is hoping that I won't be writing the same things that I have had to write after minicamp and the last OTAs.
- Coach Cable played down Andrew Walter's absence at OTAs, but during minicamp chastised him for missing quarterback school. Expect Walter to be gone.
- Darrius Heyward-Bey and Mike Mitchell should be present at OTAs next week, so I will have more on them after next Wednesday's session.
- It will be interesting to chart the progress of the team from last week.
