Two separate incidents taking place in the state of Florida will have ripple affects along the Raiders offensive line. Right tackle Cornell Green was arrested for assaulting his girlfriend and it was announced that the Miami Dolphins had traded center Samson Satele for an undisclosed draft pick.
Green's arrest on domestic battery charges will very likely find him running afoul of the NFL's personal conduct policy. This could result in a suspension of up to four games. Considering his level of play was substandard, a suspension would likely mean the end of his tenure in Silver and Black.
The Raiders have acquired two tackles in Khalif Barnes and Erik Pears already this offseason. They are also high on the prospects of Mario Henderson, and have Paul McQuistian on the roster. This put Green's future in Oakland in doubt already, so any punitive measures taken by the league will likely hasten his departure.
In a surprise move, the Raiders traded an undisclosed draft pick to the Miami Dolphins for center Samson Satele. Satele was a durable starter for the 'Fins staring all 32 games of his pro career. He had apparently fallen out of favor with the 'Fins leadership, as they had signed former Oakland Raider center Jake Grove to a contract with $14 million in guarantees.
This is a good move for the Raiders as their depth at center was non-existent. Satele instantly has the inside track for the starting center position. This move gives the Raiders more flexibility in the draft, by removing the priority status that had been lingering over the center position.
