Two weeks ago, this game had all the makings of impending doom for the Oakland Raiders. Rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez was setting the league on fire, and the Jets were flying high. Meanwhile, the Raiders fortunes were entering freefall. However, the Jets have since come crashing back to earth. and the Raiders have found a semblence of a team.

Last week, the Oakland Raiders shocked the league by beating the Philadelphia Eagles 13-9. The biggest key to the defensive part of the Raiders success was their ability to get pressure on Donovan McNabb and keep him from getting comfortable all game.
The Jets rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez is coming off a game against the Buffalo Bills where he threw five interceptions. Many of those interceptions were due to his over-relience on Braylon Edwards. If the Raiders bring the type of blitz against the rookie they did against McNabb, they can force Sanchez into yet another bad game.
The Raiders offense is still very much a work in progress, and the Jets defense has been very good. However, the Raiders did show a marked improvement against the Eagles, and were able to hold off the Eagles notorious blitz. The Jets defense has been set back by the loss of their nose tackle Kris Jenkins for the remainder of the season.
If the Raiders are to fulfill Richard Seymour's prediction of playoffs, they need to start off their run by winning this game. If they fail to end Sunday's game against the Jets with a victory, forget the predictions and optimism and they will be the same old Raiders.
