When the Oakland Raiders had thefirst overall pick in 2007, it was widely accepted that the choice would be between Brady Quinn and JaMarcus Russell. Ultimately, the Raiders selected Russell with that pick and Quinn went to the Browns with the 22nd pick.

Russell has not worked out as hoped so far for the Raiders. ESPN's Trent Dilfer suggested that the Raiders could now have both of them by trading for Brady Quinn from the Browns on NFL Live. According to Dlifer this move would make sense because it would save the Raiders from drafting a quarterback in 2010, and he said that Quinn would bring a much needed professionalism to the Silver and Black.
This is a move that would not make sense, as Quinn has already been benched in favor of Derrick Anderson, and has numbers that whilst slightly better, are rather comparable to JaMarcus Russell. This does not sound like the type of upgrade the Raiders need.
The Browns are in a similar boat to the Raiders, where they are both 1-4, and have not even shown up for most of their losses. If the Browns have already lost faith in Quinn, who they traded up to select in '06, the Raiders should want no part in him.
It is not hard to picture Quinn as being more professional than Russell, but that is not the only issue. He may even be an upgrade, but the Raiders need more than a minor upgrade at that position, and that is all Quinn would be.
The Raiders need an offensive leader who would come in and inspire his teammates to be better. One who has the 'it' that Rich Gannon had, and in his time with the Cleveland Browns, Quinn has not shown himself to be that leader. The Browns had a worse record than the Raiders last season, and are on pace with the Raiders record wise this season. Despite this, Quinn could not hold off Anderson. It doesn't help Quinn's case that the Browns are the second worst offense in the NFL ahead of the Raiders.
The Raiders would be better off seeing what they have in Bruce Gradkowski or Charlie Frye for the remainder of the season, or even calling it a lost season and seeing if Russell can start to turn it around. They will have a high draft pick again in 2010 (It is the 2011 pick that is property of the New England Patriots because of the Richard Seymour trade.) and there will be several top quarterbacks available.
However, with the leadership at the top, who knows if anyone could be successful in Silver and Black at this point.
