For any of you that found the article on the evidence for the resurrection of Jesus to be helpful, the audio files of the message I gave on the subject on Easter Sunday are now available by clicking on this link. The message is a little over a half-hour long and expands on the subject from what was covered in the article, "Evidence for resurrection proves compelling." C.S. Lewis once observed that looking at the evidence regarding the life of Christ won't force anyone to believe. God has not designed the relationship that way. But Lewis went on to say that the evidence is more than adequate to warrant careful scrutiny.
A number of people responded with comments concerning the lack of extra-biblical references to the historicity of Jesus. If you click on this hyperlink, it will take you to an article that is quite well-done and will at least introduce you to those first century historians who referenced Jesus.
Whenever the word "atheist" appears in one of my articles it is automatically picked up by a number of readers who have set up their systems to receive notification that someone has wriiten an article on the subject. I often get responses from them, and they are usually thoughtful and polite, not like the James T. Kirk nonsense someone wrote in response to the resurrection article. I like this about the Examiner. It allows for an exchange of ideas that we don't often have when articles or editorials appear only in places that are frequented by "members" of our respective "clubs."
Finally, if the apologetic approach taken in the article and on the audio is something you would like to pursue further, I would recommend you acquire a copy of Evidence that Demands a Verdict, by Josh McDowell. I took a class from Josh right after I graduated from college and it was immensely helpful. His book has been a great resource over the years. It contains several hundred pages of raw data on the life of Christ, the historical reliability of the biblical documents, and many other subjects that pose intellectual challenges to Christian faith.
A special thanks to all of you who have been giving me feedback on the these articles. The Easter week articles were read by about two thousand people. Thanks for your interest.
