This is a fascinating hour long video of Dr. Fasano’s 2007 seminar about celiac disease. About 5 minutes into the video, Barbara Hudson speaks about being diagnosed with celiac disease as a young child in 1938. She was told to follow the banana diet, was referred to as a “banana baby”, and told she would outgrow celiac.
At 38:25, Katie Barett talks about her experience being finally diagnosed in 1997 at the age of 23. As a result, she decided to go to med school at the University of Maryland. The last 13 minutes of the video addresses the future of celiac disease and current research. Dr. Fasano is the director of the Center for Celiac Research at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore.
