Most of the brands listed here also make meatballs containing gluten, so it is very important to carefully read the labels.  Information from websites and The Essential Gluten-Free Grocery Guide reveals that while the companies identify them as not containing gluten, they do not say they are gluten free, except for the ones noted.

  1. Coleman Natural Gourmet Chicken Meatballs come in three flavors, are tested for gluten, and all are labeled gluten free.  They are sold at Costco.
  2. Jennie-O Italian Style Turkey Meatballs are frozen, come in a red bag, and the website says no gluten. The Homestyle meatballs in the green bag contain gluten. They are sold at Safeway.
  3. Mama Lucia Sausage Meatballs with Beef in the blue box are the only Mama Lucia meatballs that do not contain gluten.  They taste similar to traditional meatballs, except for the fennel seeds. They are sold at Shoppers.
  4. Aidells meatballs do not contain gluten, except for the teriyaki flavor.  They are sold at Giant, Safeway, and Shoppers. The Italian chicken and turkey flavor tastes more like sausage than a traditional meatball.
  5. Farm Rich meatballs are made in a shared facility with wheat and some varieties contain gluten as is explained on the website.  They are sold at Target and Wal-Mart.
