Pie Palooza, a celebration of sweet and savory concoctions sold by the slice or entire pie, will be held 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Nov. 8, 2009, at Goodman Community Center, 149 Waubesa St., Madison.

Tickets ($16 in advance, $18 at the door) to this popular event go fast, so place your order soon, through www.reapfoodgroup.org or 608/310-7836.

In its fifth year, Pie Palooza will serve pies by the slice and, for the first time, sell whole pies for Thanksgiving enjoyment. Also new this year: enter a raffle to win a year of pies (up to 12) from Hubbard Avenue Diner.

Pie Palooza proceeds support REAP Food Group programs, which promote the inclusion of healthy, local, sustainably grown foods in schools, restaurants, grocery stores and home kitchens.

Also coming soon: Culinary pioneer Monique Jamet Hooker talks about food preservation, during all Midwest seasons.
