You can smell the baked corn long before you reach 271 Starr Street in Bushwick.  Tortilleria Mexicana Los Hermanos is formally a tortilla factory, mixing up its perfected corn-disk recipe since 2000 and only recently, the tortilleria started selling tacos and tortas out of a carito outside the building.  With that success came a restaurant within the tortilleria; what appears to be a disco-era diner with long counter tops and an open window into the tortilla-making in motion.  While you watch workers mix maize with water you can enjoy a flavorful carne enchilada or spicy pork on the cheap.

You can do it: The informality of Los Hermanos makes it less-than-date-worthy, but more movie-like.  You decide at 271 Starr Street off the Jefferson stop on the L train.
