Combining high-end street-chic labels and some fancy vintage garb (including a gold lamet jumpsuit that’s so hot that they only rent it out), Shotwell is a jolt of boho-chic flavor in the uber commercial area of Union Square.
Defined by their silhouettes (like those sketches you do when you’re in kindergarten), the new boutique owned by Holly Kricher and Michael Weaver sits modestly next door to the racy lingerie boutique Agent Provocateur on Geary Street. So after you get some fancy garb from their store, you can go next door and get a nice lacey number to wear underneath.
But I digress.
The store is named after the street they live on in the Mission and intricate cardboard cakes (they aren’t edible) serve as the décor in this industrial space that has B. Son garb gracing the racks, Cheap Monday jeans neatly folded on tables, accessories packaged in styrofoam meat trays, Cambodian-style neck scarves, vintageLacoste V-neck sweaters, glass-cut Alex & Chloe jewelry, melded Surface to Air rings and a lot more stuff that I wanted.
With the fusion of vintage and modern, the store is white hot. I was enthralled with the classic boots suitable for a period epic and the boxy luggage worthy of a spot on “Mad Men.”

So next time you’re wandering aimlessly in Union Square, stray from all that tourist trap hub-bub and pop into Shotwell – you’ll definitely do your part to stimulate the economy.
