My favorite thing about the Met Costume Institute Gala is not just the new exhibit (this year, it is a "Models as Muses" exhibition - I already set aside time later this summer to go to NY for this fab event), but the outfits worn on the red carpet. They are either very chic and modern or ambitious and outlandish. Rihanna went for the latter in this cropped Dolce & Gabbana tuxedo with Dynasty-esque shoulders. Yes, it's funky and fun, but is it me, or is she biting off of Janelle Monae's style?
