Just because I haven’t mentioned the Snuggie in a while, doesn’t mean I have lost interest in the infomercial blanket with arms. In fact, a couple of weeks ago at my birthday party, I was totally blind-sided by my obsession. In fact, it slapped me in the face…and I liked it.
Whilst opening birthday gifts, I was presented with a normal, square box wrapped in shiny polka-dotted paper from my sister and her husband. I expected it to be a pair of classic Gucci loafers, but when I ripped open the packaging, it was something better. It was a Snuggie.
I squealed like a Jonas Brothers-obsessed tween and ripped open the box and put it on – and it was soft. Really soft – not to mention comfortable. It was like God was hugging me.
As I walked around in my Snuggie and got compliments from all my party guests, I came to the realization that the Snuggie could be the most versatile garment ever.
I put it on like a robe and I looked like a Jedi Knight. I draped it over my shoulder like a cape and I looked like the hottest magician ever. But my favorite creative modification to the garment was a simple belt. With a D-ring belt, I added shape and form to the Snuggie, giving it a different silhouette that was not only ingeniously modern, but classic. I never knew how beautifully the polyblend fabric of the Snuggie draped. It was magical.

I may look constipated, but that Snuggie is FIRE!
That said, I’d like to thank my sister Karen and my brother-in-law Allen for the best birthday gift a boy could have.
