Please forgive the delay in my coverage on Macy's Passport, I got sidetracked by the Emmys red carpet - and people are still getting on my cas about mistaking Christina de Rosa for Alyssa Milano. Let this be the final correction: THE GIRL IN THE HIDEOUS WHITE FAN COLLAR DRESS IS CHRISTINA DE ROSA, NOT ALYSSA MILANO.
That's the last thing I'm gonna say about that.
Back to Macy's Passport, the evening started with cocktails and appetizers and then we all filtered into the Festival Pavilion where an auction of luxurious packages - all for charity, of course.
One package called "For the Love of Keith Haring" included - get this - roundtrip tickets for two to New York to see the unveiling of the new Keith Haring balloon at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, three nights of hotel accommodations, VIP seating at the parade, a copy of the new Keith Haring pictoral book, stage seating at the Broadway production of Spring Awakening AND a limited edition Keith Haring art piece titled, Silence=Death. There are only 200 created - so that is definitely something worth having. I think they even threw in a American Express gift card!
The package was valued at $15,000, but some rich dude behind me won it for $19,000 after a grueling bidding war! But this war paled in comparison to Dame Edna (who was looking fabulous in a glitzy pink flamingo dress and signature flamboyant specs), who made snarky comments to Mayor Gavin Newsom. After shaking his hand, the sassy Dame said it smelled like fish and asked, "Where has your hand been Gavin?"
I think I'll leave it at that.
