As usual, Macy's Passport cranked out one helluva a show this year. It was jam packed with so much that I don't even know where to begin. I might have to divide this into parts over the next couple of days.
How 'bout I just start at the very beginning - because that is always a great place to start...
When I arrived to the Herbst Pavilion in Fort Mason, things were getting underway with art students from the Academy of Art University doing some street style graffiti with chalk and paint. There was also some random street performer dude drumming away.

Okay, I'll admit, I thought the drummer was just another random SF vagabond entertainer who crashed the party - but I was proven wrong. I apologize.
Apparently, this was supposed to give us the whole '80s feel a la Keith Haring, who, by the way was the centerpiece of the entire VIP reception. His iconic artwork of enhanced stick figures with more heart and soul went hand in hand with Passport's aim to raise funds for HIV/AIDS awareness. The space was blessed with pieces of his funky, yet socially aware masterpieces.

Guests had the opportunity to sign a graffiti wall inspired by Haring's art.

As I sat there, socially awkward in my frugal H&M suit, DKNY button down, vintage ascot and my splurge pair of Franceshetti Chelsea boots, I waited for the people to pour in through the doors. Being the prompt person I am, I always arrive to these events RIGHT ON THE DOT. It's obnoxious, I know, but I don't believe in being "fashionably late." Time is very precious to me, so if your ass is late - you're gonna hear it from me. Plus, I come early so I can eat as much as I can from the free food tables and then scope out the scene for the rest of the evening.

A dress made from Fiji bottle wrappers - fancy and refreshing!
Nonetheless, some performers were doing their thing in the middle of the pavilion - what their "thing" was, I'm not too sure, but the DJ was playing some bangin' '80s music ranging from Madonna to throwback Luther Vandross. As I sat their nibbling on some sushi rolls from Roy's and drinking my Fiji water, I wondered, "I can't believe these people actually get paid to dress up and look crazy sexy cool on these go-go platforms - I could so do that!"

After making my first round of scoping out the scene and nibbling on as many appetizers I could (and waiting for my guests who were running a bit late), people started filtering into the doors, being greeted by male models with flawless teeth and bronze tans handing out samples of cologne whilst wearing all white. I kind of felt like the uncool kid sitting at a table by himself while I people watched the mob of high society types drenched in black. Everyone looked fabulous (as usual), but it was the table I was sitting at that caught my eye....

I waited for my friends and hoped to catch a glimpse of some of the evening's special guests: Dame Edna, The Jabbawockeez, Alex Da Silva, Christian Audigier, Tommy Hilfiger - but no one was in my eyeline but your run-of-the-mill high society fancy folk...and who doesn't like watching such fabulous people?
