The best Christmas gift (or whatever holiday you celebrate this time of year) is not something with a high-end name nor is it the latest gadget everyone is dying to have. It's something that everyone needs: socks.

Now before you roll your eyes, hear me out.
Long gone are the days of scoffing at the sight of a 6-pack of tube socks when tearing away that metallic holiday wrapping paper. Long gone are the days of the ridiculing cliches of socks as gifts. Socks are the best gift to give anyone.
For one, they are practical. Man, woman or child - almost every single person wears socks every day. Whether it be at the gym (a nice pair of ankle socks will go a long way) or in the office (black socks are always a necessity), socks are the gift that keeps on giving. And if you give more than one pair - it's like you're giving multiple gifts! And who doesn't want more than one gift?
Secondly, you can get creative. Go for prints, solid colors or even some swanky cashmere ones - it really doesn't matter. I would be more than happy to get a pack of Gold Toe socks from my best friend and I would be just as happy to get a pair of funky American Apparel tube socks. I'd be even happy getting a pack of generic socks from one of those mass market retail chain stores. This is where brand names don't really matter. I am going to use them no matter what because - let's face it - I need to.
Lastly, socks are generally inexpensive! I'll spare you that whole, "tough economic times" bullcorn. If you have a lot of people to buy gifts for - go for the socks. It doesn't matter if we are in this time of financial crisis where news outlets are shoving it down our throats. I mean, everyone is looking to be frugal - despite the state of our economy.
That said, if you don't have all of your Christmas shopping done. Just get everyone else on your list a pair of socks. They are the best gift you can give. Ever.
