I think it's time for me to finally talk about this phenomenon of marching band jackets. Apparently, they are in style. I have held off for the longest time, but then when I saw this picture of Paula Abdul looking like a bedazzled drum major Barbie doll I felt that it was finally time to put my two cents on this fad.
I would like to say that I was way ahead of the time. As a veteran marching band member, I wore these kinds of jackets for four years in high school (I was in drumline thank you very much). I was a part of the Mighty Judson Rocket Band in Texas. The jackets were cut so fabulously and the dank smell of the uniform room stuck on the jacket with the utmost amount of glamor. The red and gray color palette was flattering on any body and the sash crossed my chest with military allure. I felt like a million dollars. I looked so good in it. I would've worn it on a daily basis. Now, everyone thinks they are hot. All I have to say is "been there, done that."
Who are you calling a band geek now?
