On one of my many time wasting surfs of YouTube, I ran across a ton of H&M commercials that I have never seen in my life. Well, actually, I've actually seen the Madonna one, but that's beside the point. Is there some reason why we don't see this commercials televised here in the Bay Area? Or do they televise them and I just don't notice?
In any matter, here are a couple I stumbled upon.
Remember when Madonna had a line at H&M? I thought it was pretty decent, but I love the ad more. This avant garde commercial is like one of those pretentious foreign films that pseudo-intellectuals drool over. It makes no sense and is perfectly coherent all at the same time.
Kyle Minogue's swimsuit line made a metallic splash, but the commercial's easy breezy glam was as relaxing as her hypnotic "la-la" chanting from her hit song, "Can't Get You Out of My Head"
Okay, this one for Comme des Garcons kind of freaks me out. And on a side note, I went to the store on Nov. 13 to get that suit that I was pining over and they had completely sold out. Busted me.
Then there is this commercial. No - this is not a commercial. This is an enchanting short film of dramatic Broadway proportions. Using a Broadway angle, the ad promoted a new line of denim via songs from "Dreamgirls" with a "Romeo & Juliet" vibe set in a modern-day "West Side Story." At the vocal reigns of the commercial was my homegirl Mary J. Blige and "American Idol" alum, Tamyra Gray. This was just magical. This is one of two commercials that have made me choke up. The other one is that old school Folger's commercial when that guy comes home to suprise his family on Christmas:
