Comme des Garcons lands at H&M
You should have November 13 marked on your calendar. If you don’t, then clear your schedule for tomorrow because the long awaited Comme des Garçons collection is going to grace the racks of H&M.

With the long-awaited collection, head designer Rei Kawakubo translates the uber avant-luxe label’s fashion philosophy into a severely structured collection of menswear, womenswear and accessories that carry a manic style and whimsy.

"I have always been interested in the balance between creation and business. It is a dilemma, although for me creation has always been the first priority. It is a fascinating challenge to work with H&M since it is a chance to take the dilemma to its extreme, and try to solve it", says Kawakubo in a statement.

Just looking at the photos of the collection makes my wallet feel emptier. The polka dots, the stitching, the romantically ominous jackets, the disheveled punk models and then there was the plaid suit with a perfectly offbeat stitch making a diagonal scrawl across the chest. That suit is mine.

The line already launched in Tokyo, coinciding with the opening of the city’s second store. For us, the collection is going to be a hot commodity at the H&M in San Francisco (150 Powell St.) tomorrow.
I’m going to be there. And if I elbow you in the face for a polka dotted scarf, don’t take it personally.
