Macy’s in San Francisco Union Square was all a twitter this afternoon when the one and only Paris Hilton sprinkled her Fairy Dust all over the store – and I am saying that literally.

All for the sake of Hilton’s newest fragrance called “Fairy Dust,” the cosmetics floor of Macy’s was flooded with Paris fans - but only 300 of them got to stand in a line to meet her, get her autograph and a picture to remember this monumental event in their lives (they were the first 300 through the door to purchase the fragrance – the others just got to gawk at her and snap pics with their camera phones from afar).

But as those fans stirred amongst the gleaming counters of cosmetics and perfumes, I had the chance to speak with her about her new fairy tale fragrance.

“Every time I do a fragrance, I try to make it different,” says Hilton who was wearing an airy pixie dust-appropriate Alexander Wang dress. “Fairy Dust is very light, floral and I love it. I just wanted to do something that had a theme to it and I love fairies.”

The fragrance is an olfactory confection of pink peony, orange blossom and sparkling Prosecco (Italian champagne) with a heart of spring gardenia and water lily and a kiss of vanilla creme and cashmere musk. It's sweet, light, has the magic of an enchanted forest and for some odd reason it makes me want to eat a basket of potpourri.

Her sassy silver encrusted glamazon heels sparkled in the spotlight while she spritzed some of her fragrance on her body with girlish charm. As she did this, she told me about her obsession with Tinkerbell, which is not only the name of one of her Chihuahuas, but also the theme of her ad campaign.

Dressed in a come-hither outfit (kind of like a bathing suit) and heels laced to her thighs, the cover of the “Fairy Dust” box has Paris in-flight as a fairy, complete with a wand and an explosion of shimmer.

“I just wanted it to look like (Tinkerbell) and be sexy at the same time,” gleams Hilton. “(Wearing the perfume) is just like being a fairy princess and in a fairy tale. It smells really beautiful and it just makes you feel like you have wings and lifts you up.”

Hilton is definitely no stranger to the San Francisco crowd that awaited her arrival. She has appeared at Macy’s before to promote her fragrance du jour. That said, she does have a love for our city.

“I just love the people here,” says Hilton. “I love going down to the Wharf, seeing the seals, going down to Chinatown, eating at Alioto’s. They have really good restaurants and shopping here.”

When time came to face her screeching fans, a lightning storm of flashes went off and music from her album (remember when she recorded an album?!) played over the loud speaker – and one girl wearing a “DIVA” tiara definitely stood out from the crowd:

Everyone went wild and US Weekly readers were more than happy to see a three dimensional figure of Paris rather than a flat two-dimensional version.

Alas, hundreds of excited grins filled the sea of people as they stood there for two hours watching her sign autographs and smile endearingly to her loyal fans.

I, on the other hand, immediately called Alioto's and ordered a plate of calamari to be delivered to her ASAP. This would definitely make me her new BFF.
