Maybe you’re looking for a new job or career. Maybe you have a strong need or desire to work from home for more flexibility and free time. Maybe you want an alternative to corporate life so you can work for and answer to no one but yourself. Whatever your reasons, a home-based business could be your ticket to wealth and happiness.

According to Forbes, home-based businesses will have 79 million new customers within the next 3-5 years. What are all these people buying? Anything from beauty and health products to professional services to vacation packages to conferences.

Starting anything new in life—a business, a relationship, an education—requires thought, investigation and commitment. All of that will reduce stress and improve clarity so that you can make the best informed decision for your own wealth and happiness. Before you launch into anything, make a list of what your needs are, which industries or products appeal to you, how many hours you want to work per day, and how much money you can invest. Then go do your research to find the right fit. To be happy in any job, you must have a passion for what you’re doing and the company and products you are representing.

Lastly, beware of promises that seem too good to be true—they probably are! While you could achieve wealth and happiness from a home-based business, it usually takes a lot of time and work to make it happen.
