About a week ago I read an article about the "BIG BOX" approach to fighting clutter. It made an impression on me, however I cannot find it. If someone does know where it is, I'll gladly pass on the link, Howsomever:
Clutter begets clutter. If you have a cluttered workspace, guess where your significant other dumps those junk mailings and catalogs. However if your workspace is relatively clean - then it tends to stay clean. The big question is
How do you go from Cluttered to Clean?
Enter the Big Box. Get a big box. The box that contained a few reams of paper is great. Put all of the clutter into the box. Hide the box. Clutter is gone. The urge to dump more clutter is now under control. Later, when you have a chance, you can go through the collected clutter and clean it up. Want to bet that most of the clutter is trash?
