The passing of anti-gay laws in Arizona, Arkansas, Florida and California have brought the gay community to its feet once again. This Saturday activist will gather in cities throughout the country to stand up for equality.
It seems to have been years since the gay community organized the way it has this time. I think that many of us did not see this coming. With the excitement over the election perhaps we were distracted. While we were looking away these laws were passed and now this movement has to make up for lost time. I want to be clear that I aknowledge there are activist who have been fighting this battle prior to the election, however, the majority of us were caught off guard.
Not only is this a chance for LGBT folk to stand up for themselves but for our straight allies to join us in declaring our need for equality. Crowds will begin to gather at 10:30 and the march begins at noon from Volunteer Park on Capitol Hill to Westlake Center downtown.
