A great place to take some amazing pictures is at the Huntington Library in San Marino. The gardens are gorgeous and there are photo opportunities everywhere you look. There are 14 themed gardens over 120 landscaped acres with more than 14,000 different varieties of plants. Whether you want to shoot macro close ups of rare plants, small vignettes, architectural details, big expansive landscapes or street style people photography, there is something here for everyone. Unlike a lot of private places that charge admission, the Huntington Library allows photo hobbyists to take pictures using a tripod in the gardens. Be sure to check out the photography and filming guidelines on their website before you go.
The recently completed Chinese garden is what drew me back for another visit. Even though I live just down the street, I hadn't been to the Huntington Library for several years. It has really matured into a nice place to spend time by yourself with your camera or with friends and family. The plants and architecture in the Liu Fang Yuan garden frame the entire compound creating windows into the story of this exotic garden. 10 years in the making, this amazing garden is the largest classical garden outside of China and a visual treat.
