Delta II rocket with NOAA satellite

NASA is again preparing to launch a Delta II rocket carrying the NOAA-N Prime satellite. The flight attempt, from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California, will be the third for the trouble-plagued satellite.

Sidelined for years following an accident at a Lockheed Martin plant, the weather satellite has been stalled by launch pad problems the past two nights. The next launch attempt is set for 2:22 a.m. PST. Friday.

Issues facing the team tonight: weather. The forecast calls for only a 40 per cent chance of acceptable conditions, and rain showers may move in.

You can watch the launch attempt live on NASA TV, starting at about midnight PST.
