Although they had been running about a day ahead of schedule, technicians working on Space Shuttle Endeavour in California ran into some hardware problems today. Shown here: what Endeavour will look like once the spaceship is mounted to its Shuttle Carrier Aircraft (SCA).
Ferry flight managers had hoped to get Endeavour aloft on Sunday, leaving Edwards Air Force Base on a two-day journey to Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. Attachment problems with a specialized tailcone put the liftoff out to Monday at the earliest.
The Endeavour managers will meet Sunday afternoon to determine when the shuttle heads for its home port at KSC. Endeavour and the STS-126 crew had to land in California because of turbulent weather in Florida.
