Armenia has a vibrant, ancient culture which is not that well known outside of Armenia itself. This is changing as Armenia prepares itself for a potential entry into the European Union.

3 Things You Should Know About Travel in Armenia

  1. Armenia has its own currency, the Armenian dram, so dollar-euro exchange rates don't impact costs that much.
  2. US Citizens do need a visa to visit Armenia, These can be obtained either at the consulate in Los Angeles or at the Armenian Embassy in Washington, D.C. Here are full details on getting a visa for Armenia. You may also want to look into the services of professional visa expediters if you want an official visa stamp in your passport, which also requires you to send in your passport. A better option is to scroll past all that and read about obtaining an "E-Visa" which simplifies the process considerably. You can find more information on the visas at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia.
  3.  Most travelers arrive by plane at Zvartnots International Airport, located near the capital city of Yerevan. A number of international airlines  fly into Zvartnots.
