With career accomplishments that include performing on American Bandstand, two Bammie Awards, five top 100 albums, multiple national and international television appearances, and a worldwide presence which still excites fans thirty-plus years after the band’s inception, Bay area classics Y&T bring their special brand of fist pumping rock to Orange County this weekend, appearing tonight at the Coach House in San Juan Capistrano, and moving into the South Bay tomorrow night at Brixton South Bay in Redondo Beach.
Multiplatinum artist Y&T has sold over four million albums and recorded 16 LPs and three greatest hits collections since their 1974 inception. The band features original frontman Dave Meniketti and bassist Phil Kennemore, and is rounded out by guitarist John Nymann (Eric Martin, Greg Kihn) on guitar and Mike Vanderhule on drums. The band’s 1985 hit Summertime Girls was prominently featured in the Baywatch series, and they have continued to keep their music alive to the masses by being featured on various soundtracks and musical compositions.
Orange County hard rock natives Leatherwolf, who pioneered and perfected the heavy metal Triple Axe Attack, open the Coach House show. Their hits Street Ready and The Calling bring to mind the anthemic rock of the Euro-metal bands, but with a decidedly Southern California flavor.
The Coach House is located at 33157 Camino Capistrano, San Juan Capistrano, CA, 92675. For tickets & dinner reservations, call (949) 496-8930. Doors at 6:00pm, and the show starts at 8:00pm.
Brixton South Bay is located at 100 W. Torrance Boulevard, Redondo Beach, CA 90277.
