Nevada Ballet Theatre appoints new Academy principal

On Monday, Nevada Ballet Theatre announced the appointment of Anna Kristina Lantz as principal of the Academy of Nevada Ballet Theatre. Lantz most recently came from the Boston Ballet Center for Dance Education, where she was head of elementary programs.

"We are thrilled that Anna Lantz will be joining our artistic staff as the new principal of our academy,” says NBT Artistic Director James Canfield. “Her vast education from around the globe coupled with her sincere concern for the welfare of our youth will be an asset to our students."

Upcoming Academy of Nevada Ballet Theatre programs include Creative Dance Camp (July 6 to 24), Summer Intensive (July 27 to Aug. 14) and Fall Session beginning Aug. 31. For more information or to register, call (702) 243-2623.

Skateboards go vertical for LVSK8 III at Henri & Odette

Think skateboards are just for kids? Think again. Curated by Michael Todoran, this third installment of the multi-artist show first launched in 2003 features more than 100 artists' customized skate decks in the 600-square-foot Henri & Odette (124 S. Sixth St.) now through July 14. If you missed the opening reception for this visually stunning show (and judging by the overflowing crowds, you likely didn't), fret not: We brought some photos:
