The annual Phoenix Film Festival is coming to a theater near you starting April 2nd. Sure, it may be a month away but that definitely doesn't stop you from checking out the featured films and shorts playing at the festival. Here are a few that have caught my eye:

Adventures of Power

Air-drumming has never looked so good in this charming tale of a young mine-worker looking to become the best at his art and the journey he takes to achieve his goal. Produced by Ari Gold Studios, this film has been sweeping the film festival circuit from coast to coast. Starring Ari Gold (Groove), Jane Lynch (Role Models, The 40 Year Old Virgin), Adrian Grenier (Entourage), and Shoshannah Stern (Weeds, Jericho).

 Homeland

A touching and striking drama about a Marine on furlough from Iraq. His life intersects with five different people and through the film their bonds become stronger and the soldier finds his purpose and reason for fighting. With beautiful visuals and a compelling storyline, this is one film I am really looking forward to. Starring Elize Du Toit, Fran Kranz, and John Gleeson Connolly. It was hard to find very much information for this film, but here is a link to a brief summary on the Phoenix Film Festival website.

Shooting Beauty

Courtney Bent, a fashion photographer, meets a group of people afflicted with cerebral palsy and other disorders. Delving into their lives, she learns about them and helps them to overcome their fears and insecurities through photography. Directed by Emmy award nominated, George Kachadorian, this heart-warming story deals with the core of human decency and its effect in the modern world. This movie is shaping up to be one of my favorites of the festival.
