It is the middle of October, how is your homeschooling coming along? Are you keeping up with your schedule? Keeping up with the house, sports, music lessons, and dinner? And the kids aren't fighting, bickering, complaining, whining, or screaming, right? :) You have time set aside for every project, child, and of course, your hubby... Me neither. Sometimes I feel like I am in a perpetual state of being behind. LOL :)

Every year that I have home-schooled, I have set unrealistic goals for my family and myself. Normally sometime in October I realize this, and make the necessary changes to the schedule so I don't loose my mind. :)

The vision I concoct  of a perfect home-school year doesn't have tears from me or the kids and there is definitely no fighting, or apathy. Everyone is happy and willing to do their school work. I flutter about maintaining a clean house, cooking meals everyone loves and keeping up with all grading. I really don't know why I do this, for I know that it never works out the way I planned. So if you are like me in anyway, maybe this Psalm will encourage you too.

A Homeschooler’s Psalm 23

1 The Lord is my Teacher [to guide and feed me that I may guide and teach my children.]

I shall not lack anything, for He leads me into all truth.

2 He makes me lie down, [especially after a long day] in green pastures [Sometimes it’s just a short nap]; He leads me back to the restful waters of his peace.

3 Where he refreshes and restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness [that I may direct the next generation towards Him], For His Name sake.

4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of uninterested and unresponsive children, I will fear no failure, for You are with me; Your rod [to help me continue] and Your staff [to help me stay on the path] they comfort me.

5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my scoffers who ask, “You are going to home school your children, why? What about socialization?” You anoint my head with oil, [Your spirit of grace crowns me with loving-kindness and tender mercies for me and my children. My cup runs over with gratitude as the ‘ah’ moments when my child ‘gets it!’

6 Unfailing goodness and mercy shall follow me all my days and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
